Acton Burnell Church, Shropshire

Like the nearby Castle Acton Burnell Church was built by the Burnell family and dates from around 1260.  Robert Burnell was Lord Chancellor and Bishop of Bath and Wells and thus was a rich man by the time he died in 1293, not only did he build his very comfortable Castle and this church, but he had 82 other manors in 19 other counties across England.

Further changes were made to both Castle and Church in the 16th Century, and although the Castle is now ruined the Church remains intact.
