FIRA GREEK ORTHODOX CATHEDRAL

Santorini, Greece

Fira Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Santorini, Greece

The Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Fira is an elegant construction of arches, arcades and domes and has a light and airy feel unusual in Orthodox churches. It sits on one of the highest points in Fira and is close to the Catholic Cathedral.

The first Orthodox Cathedral was built in the 19th Century, but it was almost destroyed in 1956 after which this new version was rebuilt.
