Grosmont Church, Monmouthshire, Wales

St. Nicholas Church, standing very close to Grosmont Castle, was built, in part at least, as a garrison church for those stationed here. It is largely 13th Century (like the castle) and was said to have been built at the behest of Eleanor, Queen of Henry III. The church was restored during the Victorian period and given a rather over-uniform appearance at that time which belies its age.
