Costa del Azahar, Spain
The Church of Santa Maria la Mayor is one of the oldest churches surviving in this part of Spain. It began in the 13th Century, although the bulk of what survives today dates from the 15th.
The church is halfway up the hill which leads from the town centre to the Castle of Morella. The exterior is quite plain, but inside the decorations go into overdrive with lavish carvings and stained glass windows which seem surprising in such a small and out of the way town.
There seems to be some confusion as to whether this is a Church or a Cathedral.
