NORWICH ROMAN CATHOLIC CATHEDRAL

Norfolk

Norwich Roman Catholic Cathedral, Norfolk

Full dedication: Cathedral Church of St. John the Baptist
Became a Cathedral in 1976

The Catholic Cathedral stands on high ground, its base being the same height of the Protestant Cathedrals spire-tip!

It was begun in 1882 to designs by the ubiquitous George Gilbert Scott. It was not finished until 1912, it did not become a Cathedral until 1976, but was always built as a massive structure. In many ways it is as satisfying to visit as the ancient Protestant Cathedral and is one of the more interesting Catholic Cathedrals in England.
