Oakham Church, Rutland

Oakham Church is, as befits Rutland’s county town, the largest in the county and it’s elegant spire dominates views of the town. The tower and spire are 14th Century, and pre-date the majority of the remainder of the church which are late 14th and into the early 15th Century.

The oldest survived structure is the south doorway which seems to be late 13th Century, implying an older church stood on this site.

All was restored in the 1850s by Sir George Gilbert Scott.
