SILCHESTER CHURCH

Hampshire

Silchester Church, Hampshire

Silchester is best known for its extensive Roman remains, but the church is quite old, dating to 1180-1200 and has had very few additions since then. The interior contains some great 13th Century wall paintings and a 14th Century tomb effigy. A later addition is a well-preserved organ from 1770.
