Picture Twenty-One

The Big(gest) Wheel

The Millennium Dome wasn't the only big new attraction in London to open in 2000 - there was, of course, also the London Eye (or the Millennium Wheel as it is sometimes erroneously called). This is the BIGGEST big wheel in the world, standing an incredible 450 feet (145 metres) tall and providing some amazing views across London.

On the day this photo was taken, 18th May 2000, Andrew was merely there to finish off a film in his camera and decided to go and take a few pictures of the Eye after work.  He would later go on the Wheel with Kirsi Tahvainen from Finland and her two German friends, Astrid and Markus (see Pictures Sixty-Eight, Eighty-Six and 135).
