The pastel shaded Cathedral of Ajaccio dedicated to Notre Dame de lAssomption dates to 1577 and was completed in 1593.
Its claim to fame like everything else in Ajaccio is its Napoleon connections. Bonaparte was baptised here in July 1771 and would have worshipped here during his childhood and early adult life.
Otherwise it is merely a rather handsome church in a rather handsome city.
