ST. FRANCESCO'S CHURCH

St. Francesco's Church, Alghero, Sardinia, Italy

St. Francesco's is the best preserved example of "Catalan Gothic" in the World. Sadly the most interesting feature is the cloister and when I visited Alghero the interior of the church was shut to the public.

The Church dates to the 14th Century, with a certain amount of rebuilding having taken place in the 16th. From the outside it looks quite plain and, like every building of importance on Sardinia (at least that I visited), it seems to be squashed into the tiniest of available space.
