CHURCH OF EPISKOPI GONIA
Santorini, Greece
The oldest surviving church in Santorini the church of Panagia Episkopi was built in 1115. It has survived invasions, earthquakes and the general harsh climate on Santorini and is today one of the few extant medieval structures anywhere on the island. Inside is the icon of Panagia Glikofilousa, the Sweet Kissing Virgin, which is considered to be one of the most important Byzantine icons in Greece.
