St. Alban's Church, Cologne, Germany

St. Alban's Church was one of the great Romanesque churches of Cologne, dating to the early medieval period. It is today difficult to get an idea of its original form as the whole was reduced to just a façade in a series of bombing raids in World War II. The raid of March 2nd 1945 in particular destroyed most of the rest of the Church.

Today it stands as a monument to the destruction of old Cologne and to those who died during the bombing.
