THE LAST DOLPHIN

by Andrew J. Müller

The Dodo is gone
The Passenger Pigeon is gone
The Great Auk is gone
The Forest Little Owl is just about hanging on.

The Thyacin is gone
The Barbary Lion is gone
Bali's Tigers are all gone
But the Indian one is just about hanging on.

When do we learn?
When do we learn?
Do we have to lose the last Dolphin
Do we have to fell the last tree.

Steller's Sea Cow swims the seas no more
No Great Plains Wolves to prowl the shore
So maybe no one missed the Agate Rocksnail
But what happens when the Snow Leopard cannot raise his tail?

When do we learn?
When do we learn?
Do we have to lose the last Dolphin
Do we have to fell the last tree.

What do we have to loose next?
The Orang-u-tan, the Gorilla?
Only 60 Javan Rhinos are left
Mankind is nothing short of a killer.

Blue Whale? Giant Panda? Dugong?
In a few years all these may be gone
We must not allow it to carry on
What do we done when the last Tiger has gone?

When do we learn?
When do we learn?
Do we have to lose the last Dolphin
Do we have to fell the last tree.

Poisonous atmosphere
Poisonous seas
Poisonous raindrops
Poisonous breeze
We're destroying our world
With consummate ease.

When do we learn?
When do we learn?
Do we have to lose the last Dolphin
Do we have to fell the last tree.
