San Marino is another of Europe's bizarre "mini-states". It occupies basically one hill, surrounded on all sides by Italy.
This doesn't stop it hosting one of the premier Grand Prix of the season, even if it has to do so at Imola which is outside its borders.
The town, and thus the whole country, is very picturesque and is in easy reach of the Italian Adriatic coast towns such as Rimini and Cattolica.
